MLB Draft 2021: Yankees select Robert Ahlstrom 213th overall The Yankees stuck with college pitching with their seventh pick, selecting left-hander Robert Ahlstrom 213th overall. The 22-year-old comes in at a somewhat slight 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, on the heels of three seasons with the Oregon Ducks. We’re working deeper into the draft here, and the prospects themselves are becoming a little less heralded, as Baseball America had Ahlstrom at 297th overall and MLB.com did not rank him among their top 250. Here’s a bit of what BA had to say about the lefty:He struggled in the truncated 2020 season Gerrit Cole Jersey, but has taken a step forward in 2021... Ahlstrom isn’t flashy, with a fastball that sits 88-89 mph and tops out at 92, but he consistently throws the pitch for strikes. The same is true of his curveball and changeup, which are both average offerings Elston Howard Jersey, and he commands all three pitches effectivelySounds like a pitchability lefty to me. Not the most exciting profile, as it doesn’t typically bode well for a prospect’s velocity to *start* in the upper-80s range New York Yankees T-shirts. That said, feel for pitching and quality command are important traits, ones which will give Ahlstrom a chance to succeed at the pro level. Ahlstrom did put in a strong final season in college, striking out 92 across 90 innings with a 2.50 ERA. With any luck, he’ll continue that run of form as he joins the Yankee organization.
